Educators Back Sydney Kamlager for SD 30 & Shane Parmely for AD 79 in Upcoming Special Elections

Lifelong advocates for students in California’s public schools and colleges

BURLINGAME — The California Teachers Association recommends Sydney Kamlager for State Senate District 30 (Los Angeles) and Shane Parmely for Assembly District 79 (San Diego) in the upcoming Special Elections. As with all campaigns, recommendations are member-driven and based on shared values that prioritize California’s public schools and colleges.

Kamlager is well-known as a successful member of the California State Assembly where she has chaired the Los Angeles legislative delegation. She has been a proven advocate for students and she understands the issues and challenges facing the communities in her district, the region, and the state during this uniquely challenging time. Kamlager will be a clear voice and strong asset to the greater Los Angeles community as State Senator in District 30.

In San Diego, educators recommend veteran teacher Shane Parmely in her bid for California State Assembly District 79. As an educator in the community, she knows firsthand the challenges her district faces and how to address them. A social justice champion, Parmely will advocate for the needs and rights of all in her community regardless of ZIP Code, language they speak or who they love. Parmely is also focused on younger voters and wants to ensure their voicesboth present and futureare heard in the halls of the Capitol. She will be a strong voice for the 79th Assembly District.

“We are proud to support Sydney and Shane in the upcoming special elections. During these unprecedented times in history, we need both strong women who know the needs and challenges facing our students and communities, and who also know the right steps to address each one. Their long-standing proven dedication to the human rights of all will go a long way representing their constituencies, which include our students and their families.”
