Los maestros han creado un gran impacto en mis hijos. Hay dos maestros que recordamos con mucho cariño, que siempre que los vemos los niños corren, los abrazan. Te imaginas ese lazo afectivo que ellos formaron. El niño estaba tan interesado que llevaba el trabajo a casa, la maestra le prestaba los materiales. Despertó en mi hijo esta idea de construir, de imaginar, de expander sus conocimientos. Padres como yo sabemos que las escuelas públicas de calidad hacen una mejor California para todos.

Para mí personalmente como madre, yo pienso en los maestros y digo "ellos son el corazón de nuestras comunidades". Ellos son los que están ahí, invirtiendo su tiempo, su amor, a nuestros hijos. Las escuelas públicas dan a los estudiantes un lugar seguro para estar. Les dan la oportunidad a los niños de desarrollarse y desenvolverse dentro de una comunidad. Padres como yo sabemos que las escuelas públicas de calidad hacen una mejor California para todos.

It’s the parent teacher partnership that really makes a difference. They know that their children are coming to a safe place. They’re coming to a place where they’ll be loved. We have a strong community of people that all look out for each other. We’re all kind of taking care of the children. Janitors, the teachers, the office staff, the cafeteria worker, the crossing guard, the bus driver. Because our future is in those schools, that’s where the heart of our community belongs. Because teachers like me know quality public schools make a better California for all of us.

When I think about Teacher Appreciation Day, I really think about all of the things teachers do that they think go unseen. My son's first grade teacher really made a difference. He went above and beyond. When a parent tells me that I've made a difference in their child’s life, it means the world to me. When I think of my daughter's teachers, that's about as close to a superhero as you can be. Because the California Teachers Association knows quality public schools make a better California for all of us.
