Event Description
CTA/NEA-Retired devotes 100% of its time and resources to serving the combined interests of retired teachers, educators, college and university professors, and education support professionals. We partner with local active chapters to advance causes important to them. Additionally, in conjunction with CTA and NEA, our organization maintains a constant watch for issues or legislation that may affect retirement benefits. At the state level, CTA/NEA-Retired liaisons work to influence CalSTRS policy and practices. At the federal level, we work to repeal the unfair Social Security Government Pension Offset (GPO) and Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP), opposing efforts to privatize Social Security and working to strengthen Medicare.
