Event Description
The New Educator Weekend is back with updated workshops and exciting new keynote speakers!
CTA’s New Educator Weekend has everything that educators need to be successful in their first years of teaching. We’re offering new and updated sessions, so if you attended in December, you can attend again for even more great content with a focus on energizing educators and preparing them to finish the year strong and motivated.
CTA’s New Educator Weekend (NEW) is a conference for new CTA members. Due to the global pandemic and restrictions on large scale gatherings, NEW will be virtual this year. This NEW conference is for educators in their first three years in the profession. The New Educator Weekend has everything that educators need to be successful in their first years of teaching with sessions and electives concentrating on:
- Online Classroom Management – Creating a Productive and Inspiring Learning Environment
- Best Practices for Distance Learning
- Technology Tips and Tricks
- Navigating IEP’s and Special Education Areas in the Virtual World
- What I Wish I Knew My First Years of Teaching
- Working with Colleagues, Administration and Parents
- Common Core, State Standards, Assessments and Pedagogy
- Teaching is a Career
- Student Loan Forgiveness Programs for Educators
- Resources and Programs from CTA Available to Members
Your experience at the New Educator Weekend is equal parts educational and transformational. You’ll learn new skills and find solutions to real-life challenges. You’ll leave the conference feeling inspired, motivated and with a knowledge of what you need to do to be even more successful on Monday morning in your classroom.

Credits
University Credit: The University Credit Season Pass is a new benefit to members attending CTA Statewide Conferences. CTA Members, through attending online conferences live or through watching recordings, will be given the opportunity to accumulate the hours of professional growth needed to qualify for university credit units (15 hours per one unit) across the entire season of statewide conferences. As a benefit to members, CTA will cover the cost of enrollment with CSU Chico, normally $75/credit. The Season Pass begins with the 2020 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference and ends with the 2021 CTA Special Education Conference in April.
