Event Description

The Community College Association Spring Conference highlights membership. At this conference, we also highlight our “We Honor Ours” (WHO) Awards winners. This is a special program which honors our own local and state union leaders. We also hold our last Council of the academic year at the Spring Conference. Members will also receive Legislative updates pertaining to California Community Colleges. The 2021 Spring Conference will take place virtually, April 23-25.

This year’s sessions will include:

  • Advocacy Skills During Investigatory Interviews
  • CalSTRS – Part-Time Educator
  • Developing and Implementing a Membership Drive Campaign
  • Membership Development Committee: Best Practices and MDC Grants
  • Social Media for Social Justice: Unpacking Hashtag Activism
  • Strengthen Your Local – A Leader’s Guide to Membership
  • Working Together While Apart – Organizing Through Technology with CTA’s Membership Tools

The second of three parts of the Building Strong Locals (BSL) Academy will take place during the conference as well.

Credits

University Credit: This conference qualifies for the University Credit Season Pass, which is a new benefit to members attending CTA Statewide Conferences. CTA Members, through attending online conferences live or through watching recordings, will be given the opportunity to accumulate the hours of professional growth needed to qualify for university credit units (15 hours per one unit) across the entire season of statewide conferences. As a benefit to members, CTA will cover the cost of enrollment with CSU Chico, normally $75/credit. The Season Pass begins with the 2020 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference and ends with the 2021 CTA Special Education Conference in April. For more information, please visit our dedicated page.

Professional Growth Hours: Professional Growth credit will be available at no cost for CTA members and will be based on the number of sessions you attend. Confirmation of professional growth hours will be emailed within two to four weeks after the conference.

Please note that this conference will be live only. No recordings and on-demand streaming will be available.
