It’s time to dream big! Over the next few months, our union will build our collective vision for public schools as a unifying framework to guide, anchor and strengthen our campaigns.

The CTA Vision Project started at the June State Council of Education meeting, with hundreds of members sharing their dream for their own schools, classrooms and community colleges. Some ideas shared include fully funded schools, small class sizes, competitive wages, sustainable workloads and updated school facilities. Our union will also gather thousands more perspectives over the summer during Presidents Conference, at Summer Institute and through digital outreach.

Our union will continue to collect members’ ideas at Regional Leadership and CTA conferences in the fall, along with local and regional focus groups to ensure all members have a chance to participate in developing our shared vision. The goal is to engage more than 30,000 members to gather input for this project by the October State Council meeting (Oct. 23–25) to articulate our shared vision for California public schools as we continue to fight for transformative revenue at the state level.

“Attacks on public education are attacks on the future of our communities, our schools and our students,” says CTA President David Goldberg. “We know that we will keep winning by organizing and campaigning together. But it is also time for us to reclaim the future with a bold vision for public schools in California.”
