OUR UNION HAS launched the biggest canvassing campaign in our history in the fight to win Proposition 3 — and to elect hundreds of local school board candidates who share our values.

Members are knocking on neighbors’ doors up and down California every weekend and weekdays after school till Election Day on Nov. 3.

“We know that when we knock, we win,” says CTA President David Goldberg. “There is no text message, no piece of mail that can take the place of a local educator at a voter’s doorstep telling them Prop. 3 matters.”

Along with electing Richard Barrera for State Superintendent of Public Schools and Xavier Becerra for governor, it is critical to make permanent existing taxes on the wealthy that fund education with $15 billion annually. Prop. 3 will do this; if it fails, public schools and students will suffer catastrophic cuts to programs, services — and educator jobs.

Electing school board members who believe in and support our students and schools is vital to the future of public education, particularly in a time when public education is under attack in district budgets and at the federal level.

LOCAL CHAPTERS have mobilized their members and communities and have set up 70 canvassing stations around the state, making it easy for everyone to join the effort.

The stakes are high and while recent polling shows voters leaning toward #YesOn3, we must remain vigilant and keep knocking on doors. Our students and families are counting on us.
