The Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation, in partnership with the California Department of Education and the Commission on the Status of Women and Girls, is proud to bring you the seventh annual California STEAM Symposium.

This year, the California STEAM Symposium will take place Dec. 9–10 at the Anaheim Convention Center North. Click here to register. CDEF is providing a special discount for CTA members — just use and share the code “STEAM4ACI”. For additional savings, participants should register before Oct. 31.

The Symposium brings together thousands of teachers, administrators, students, higher education representatives and industry representatives to engage them in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education by providing strategies and resources for program implementation.

There are more than 200 breakout sessions offering innovative ideas and hands-on activities with a STEAM focus. In addition, the keynote lineup features:

  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, former NBA superstar, in a fireside chat with State Superintendent Tony Thurmond
  • Ellen Ochoa, the first Latina in space
  • Chris Emdin, the founder of #HipHopEd

The Symposium has a special focus on increasing and supporting the participation of women and girls — as well as other underrepresented groups — in STEAM fields. It also highlights leaders in classroom innovation from across the state and attracts student teams to showcase critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork.
