Former Teacher and CTA Field Director Gail Gregorio Named as Interim Executive Director

BURLINGAME – California Teachers Association President E. Toby Boyd announced today that the CTA Board of Directors has named former teacher and union advocate Gail Gregorio to serve as Interim Executive Director. She assumes those duties today.

Gregorio recently retired as an Assistant Executive Director of CTA regional field operations. Gregorio began her career as a teacher in Gladstone, Oregon, and subsequently went into union work serving as field staff for the Oregon Education Association. At CTA, Gregorio coordinated regional organizing, bargaining, membership engagement and political action activities.

“We’re extremely pleased to have someone as talented and experienced as Gail to serve as Interim Executive Director during this transition period,” said Boyd. “She brings with her over four decades of union organizing, bargaining, membership engagement, political advocacy and management experience. Her deep familiarity with CTA only adds to her already outstanding qualifications. Her placement will help us quickly begin the search and process of hiring a new executive director.”
