Educators Call on Los Angeles Dodgers to Reinvite Group to Annual Pride Night, Uphold Pride Spirit

SACRAMENTO — The following statement was issued today by California Teachers Association (CTA) President E. Toby Boyd regarding the decision by the Los Angeles Dodgers to rescind an invitation to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to be honored at the annual Pride Night:

“CTA stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in calling on the Los Angeles Dodgers to bring back the true spirit of Pride, reconsider their decision and honor the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at their annual Pride Night. At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under attack across the country with more than 400 pieces of legislation filed in states, at a time when 45 percent of LGBTQ+ youth report seriously considering committing suicide each year, we should be leading with love and inclusion in California rather than sowing division. Our students are watching what happens on and off the field.”
