CTA Denounces All Forms of Antisemitism and Bigotry Amid String of Hateful Actions and Remarks

BURLINGAME – California Teachers Association President E. Toby Boyd, a kindergarten educator, issued this statement today denouncing despicable, antisemitic remarks and hate speech amid a string of hateful actions and remarks:

“CTA condemns all forms of antisemitism, racism, misogyny and bigotry. We have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, and hate speech and we will not stand silently as one of our communities is under attack. The Jewish community has endured a long history of targeted hate speech, and the Jewish people suffered what is undoubtedly the greatest horror committed during the 20th century.

“Unfortunately, recent comments by celebrities, such as Ye (Kanye West) and Kyrie Irving, are part of a deeply troubling trend. Antisemitic incidents in the United States hit a record number in 2021, an upward trend that began in 2016.

“We stand against antisemitism and bigotry in all its forms. It must be called out when it occurs. Silence is assent and CTA members will not remain silent.”
