Borden to Represent San Diego and Imperial Counties on CTA Board

SAN DIEGO — California Teachers Association (CTA) is pleased to announce the election of Kisha Borden, a veteran elementary educator and former San Diego Education Association (SDEA) president, to serve the remaining term on the CTA Board for District P. The six-month term will be completed on June 25, 2022.As District P Director, Kisha represents the educators of San Diego and Imperial counties.Kisha grew up in San Diego, graduated from San Diego schools, and began teaching in her district in 1996. Kisha’s 25 years of teaching have all been at Zamorano Fine Arts Academy, near the neighborhood where she grew up.Kisha’s union activism runs deep. As a long-time union member, she served as her site’s union representative for 10 years, a board member, treasurer, vice president, and recently completed two terms out as the president of SDEA. Kisha also served on the bargaining team and member engagement committee. For her activism, SDEA honored her with a CTA “We Honor Ours” (WHO) Award.“My years as a site representative taught me valuable lessons about organizing and empowering my fellow educators to fight for what’s right, for ourselves and our students.”On the state and national level, Kisha served for nine years as a delegate to the CTA State Council, the union’s top governing body, and served as a state and local delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly for seven years.She earned her bachelor’s in science from UC Berkeley and her teaching credential from the University of San Diego.Kisha lives in San Diego.
