About

International Women’s Day is commemorated in a variety of ways worldwide; it is a public holiday in several countries and observed socially or locally in others to celebrate and promote the achievements of women. It is also a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

It is a day of hope and reflection; and a celebration of gender parity in all walks of life. This day is to acknowledge women’s strength, patience, inner strength, and courage. International Women’s Day encourages people to actively choose to “challenge stereotypes, broaden perceptions, fight bias, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.”
