About

We are living in a time when the importance of ethnic studies is more important than ever. In this talk, Dr. Glenda Marisol Flores draws from the interdisciplinary field of Chicano/Latino Studies to show how Latina teachers draw from elements of Latina/o/x cultures in order to be agents of ethnic mobility for their students.

Dr. Flores is an associate professor of Chicano/Latino Studies at the University of California, Irvine. Her book Latina Teachers: Creating Careers and Guarding Culture won the Outstanding Contribution to Scholarship Book Award from the Race, Gender and Class Section of the American Sociological Association.
