San Bernardino Teachers Association (SBTA) has enthusiastically endorsed career educator and leader Mikki Cichocki for San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) board of trustees. This weekend they canvassed for her candidacy and are voicing their support for a strong student and educator advocate as trustee on the board of the 6th largest school district in the state. By walking the talk as a fellow educator, Cichocki’s career is a tapestry of total commitment to the teaching profession giving her the grassroots support necessary for a successful school board bid.

Mikki Cichocki makes the perfect choice for SBCUSD school board. She has been a career educator and leader with decades of local and statewide experience. Members of San Bernardino Teachers Association (SBTA) know firsthand the impact of her steady stewardship during difficult economic times in the 2000’s.

Her election to California Teachers Association executive board and ultimately statewide office are experiences frankly unmatched by her opponents. They also indicate the degree of regard her peers have shown in her leadership.

Walking precincts and interfacing with voters is SBTA’s way of making sure SBCUSD has an experienced educator and leader making policy on behalf of all San Bernardino City students, parents, educators, and education support professionals.

Friends, and co-workers are also pleased and excited about Cichocki’s future as an agent of change in the SBCUSD. Policy is made in coalitions, a skill Cichocki has honed for a professional lifetime.

“I have spent my entire career working with and advocating for students, teachers and public education.  I am dedicated to ensuring the students in SBCUSD have access to everything they need to be successful. I want to continue my work on behalf of students, parents, our staff and community as a SBCUSD school board member.”

Education stakeholders throughout San Bernardino have offered their endorsements too.

Award-winning San Bernardino educator and longtime friend Tobin Brinker remarked, “Mikki is the best! There is no finer choice for the benefit of our students.”

Retired educator Clyde Hodge believes she can help build community; “Honesty, integrity, intelligence, clarity, and leadership: a stellar career of doing the best for students, and a guarantee of the same as a board member.”

San Bernardino school administrator Bobbi Simenton stated “I wholeheartedly endorse Mikki Cichocki’s candidacy for the San Bernardino City Unified School District Board of Trustees position vacated by an untimely passing. Mikki has the experience, enthusiasm and dedication to the educational needs of the children in our community that is so vitally needed.”

“Mikki is a vote for dedication to get the job done for the good of the students and staff. Mikki has been involved in education all her life. She is the right one to be on the SBCUSD Board of Education” retired teacher Angie Alvino explained.

“We’re here to support Mikki because we know she cares about the community, students, families, colleagues, and staff” explained Kendall and Brenda Chow. “I know that Mikki really cares about the future of this school district. She really cares about the future of the students.”

SBTA realizes it has a unique opportunity to help elect an experienced champion of public education in Mikki Cichocki for SBCUSD School Board, and they are making the most of it.
