California’s public school educators joined a nationwide celebration of reading on Monday, March 2, as they met up with parents, local and state officials, firefighters, and TV and movie actors at events statewide for NEA’s 23rd annual Read Across America extravaganza.
CTA President E. Toby Boyd read to first graders at Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School in Davis and Clyde W. Needham Elementary in Lodi from the books My Papi Has a Motorcycle by Isabel Quintero and Imagine by Juan Felipe Herrera.
CTA Vice President David Goldberg read at Rosewood Stem Magnet, a dual-immersion school in Los Angeles. He read in Spanish from Lola by Junot Díaz.
CTA Secretary-Treasurer Leslie Littman read at Bandini Elementary School in City of Commerce (Los Angeles).
