Nearly 300 educators in years 1-3 of teaching wrapped up the Orange County conference and headed back to their school communities inspired and empowered.

Conference sessions kicked off Saturday morning with Keynote Presenter Erin Jones, veteran educator, racial justice strategist and author.

Jones is the author of the 2021-released “Bridges to Heal US, Stories and Strategies for Racial Healing.”

“Real talk on racial injustice. Much-needed transformation. The three postures to help us build a bridge to healing: gratitude, brave spaces and grounding in. She was, quite frankly, amazing and her words put an exclamation mark on 2022,” said CTA President E. Toby Boyd of Jones. “She wowed us all in ways only she can. We are grateful to have had Erin’s wise words in this space.”

President Boyd, a kindergarten educator from Elk Grove, wrapped up the weekend with inspiring words of encouragement and a promise of union solidarity and strength for our newest educators — educators starting careers amid a critical shortage in the profession and pipeline.
