After five jam-packed days of workshops, training and development, CTA’s 2019 Summer Institute came to a close today.

More than 900 educators attended the annual institute, held at UCLA, which featured subject-specific strands including communications, bargaining, community engagement, professional development and member benefits. The premier training of its kind, Summer Institute provides the resources members need to help keep CTA strong and prepare for the school year ahead.

These dedicated educators were joined today by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, who shared her story of activism and emphasized the importance of getting involved in local communities. She thanked CTA members for all they do to advocate for students and public education, whether in classrooms, at the bargaining table or by lobbying elected officials.

“Nobody can tell your story better than you,” Ma said. “Thank you for your advocacy.”

Even if you couldn’t be at this year’s institute, you can still learn from the valuable and informative trainings—CTA members can sign up for a virtual pass to access a variety of the sessions and build skills from the comfort of home. And check out some of the sights and sounds from Summer Institute on CTA’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) or by searching the hashtags #WeAreCTA and #CTASI.
