Something new is happening in California's public schools. They're called Community Schools. One of the foundations of Community Schools is shared decision-making. Where parents and families, students and educators, make decisions as ONE. Community Schools lift the voices of folks that have traditionally been underserved. Many of our classes are designed around our own students' cultures, their background, their personal experiences. We bring culturally relevant curriculum to the classroom based on what their specific needs are. Improving student achievement and innovative classes like cybersecurity and gardening. And we assist families with their needs. Some schools have parent education programs, cooking and nutrition classes…everything from medical or dental services to immigration law services. This is a one-stop shop that serves the needs of not just the students, but their families as well. They're California's Community Schools. Reimagining public education. Paid for by the California Teachers Association.
