Fighting for the Public Schools and Communities All Students Deserve

David Goldberg has spent most of his career as a bilingual teacher at Murchison Elementary in Los Angeles. His history of union activism includes serving as CTA Vice President and Secretary- Treasurer, two terms on the CTA Board and as treasurer of United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA). He comes from a long line of LA educator union leaders.

Goldberg is committed to democratic unionism, an expansive movement where members build capacity and power at their worksites to make positive change. He is dedicated to securing the full funding that California public schools deserve. He led CTA’s 2020 effort to reform corporate property tax laws to fully fund public education and local services, and reverse decades of disinvestment in our communities. He sees advocacy for strong public schools as part of a larger struggle for social justice, with CTA leading the way in the movement for equitable opportunity for all. To that end, he is spearheading CTA’s work with community schools throughout the state.

Fun fact: Goldberg is trilingual, including Spanish and American Sign Language.
