April 6, 2021 Update
- Case Rate Increased Slightly: California’s statewide COVID-19 new cases per day increased to 5.1 per 100,000 people from last week’s 4.8 per 100,000. January 2021 started at 74.1 per 100,000 people.
- Test Positivity Stayed the Same: The statewide 7-day average test positivity rate stayed steady at 1.8%. It was 1.8% in last week’s report. The World Health Organization recommends maintaining test positivity at 5% or lower. The Purple Tier threshold indicating widespread risk is 8%.
- Health Equity Metric Shows More Improvement: All large counties had test positivity less than 8% per the state’s Health Equity Metric and 94% of large counties reported a health equity test positivity rate lower than 5%. Santa Barbara and Stanislaus continues to have a health equity test positivity rate above 5%.
- Statewide ICU Capacity Increased Slightly: 31.0% available (30.3% reported last week)
