CTA is proud to present the twelfth annual (and first virtual!) CTA conference addressing LGBTQ+ issues involving educators, students and the community. This conference is open to all CTA members and will serve as a venue to discuss a variety of subjects affecting the entire membership and California’s youth.

This year’s conference will have sessions focused around three themes: the Educational Environment, What’s Going On?, and What Can I Do?. Session highlights include:

• Implementing a Gender Safety and Communication Plan in Schools
• The Rhetoric of Revolution: Analyzing Significant Speeches within the LGBTQ+ Community
• Current Issues Facing the LGBTQ+ Asian American Community
• Professional Development to Support Transgender Diversity in Early Childhood Programs
• What Parents of LGBTQIA Students Need

The LGBTQ+ Issues Conference will be hosted online using our (New!) Attendee Hub! Session documents will be available in the virtual attendee hub within each session closer to the start of the conference.

University Credit:The University Credit Season Pass is a new benefit to members attending CTA Statewide Conferences. CTA Members, through attending online conferences live or through watching recordings, will be given the opportunity to accumulate the hours of professional growth needed to qualify for university credit units (15 hours per one unit) across the entire season of statewide conferences. As a benefit to members, CTA will cover the cost of enrollment with CSU Chico, normally $75/credit. The Season Pass begins with the 2020 LGBTQ+ Issues Conference and ends with the 2021 CTA Special Education Conference in April. Click here for more details on the University Credit Season Pass.

Professional Growth Hours: Professional Growth credit will be available at no cost for CTA members and will be based on the number of sessions you attend. Confirmation of professional growth hours will be emailed within two to four weeks after the conference.

The LGBTQ+ Issues Conference will host two optional social activities for you to network with fellow educators on Friday, December 4th from 7:45 pm – 8:45 pm.

Get Moving! Art Wellness for the Mind and Body
During these unprecedented times, it is normal to feel overwhelmed with new responsibilities as educators, and to feel more disconnected from others and ourselves, as our lives have gone virtual. This art wellness workshop is a check-in for the mind and body. We will learn movements to wake up the brain and body, experience learning in and adapting to the virtual space, and train our minds to relax into the present, which will allow for greater focus and productivity during tasks, such as preparing lessons. Everything taught during this workshop can be utilized at the start of your classes, faculty meetings, or general work day. Participants of all abilities are welcome to attend, and are encouraged to participate in whatever way feels best. No previous experience is necessary.
