Summer provides an opportunity for most school employees to come up for air finally and enjoy that precious commodity known as “me time.” It’s an ideal opportunity for teachers, school nurses, speech therapists, librarians, counselors and classified employees to think about themselves for a change and rejuvenate their mind, body and spirit in a variety of ways.
In other words, it’s a time for the nurturers to nurture themselves.
Some prefer to use summer vacation as a chance to take a break from education and enjoy pursuits they have little time for during the school year. They may pursue an interest — such as mastering the trapeze or going to camp — that provides a new outlook and enthusiasm for life in general.
For others, summertime is an opportunity to explore new personal professional growth that will ultimately inspire the minds of their students. They may spend it improving upon existing skills such as speaking a foreign language, or finding new ways to tap their inner creativity on a personal level.
