IPD Trainings

CTA's Instruction and Professional Development (IPD) department provides technical assistance to local chapters, CTA leadership, and various CTA departments in the areas of standards, assessment, curriculum, instruction, accountability, evaluation, as well as the education of language minority children.  

IPD Good Teaching Friday Pre-Conference:

From Brain Science to Instructional Practice 

Dates: Friday, February 1, San Jose Fairmont and Friday, March 22, 

Location: Hyatt Regency Orange County

How do you create conditions for student engagement and a positive learning environment? Keynote speaker, neuroscientist Kenneth Wesson, will lead participants through the connection between executive functioning and the social-emotional link to the brain. This one-day pre-conference will explore: 

  • Creating conditions for student engagement 
  • Understanding how the brain works to create a positive classroom environment 
  • Exploring classroom management from a social emotional learning perspective 
  • Using student-centered pedagogy to excite learners 
  • Understanding how executive functioning works 

 Registration fees: member: $25, student CTA: $5, and non-members: $75

IPD Fall 2018 Webinars

The IPD department will be hosting another set of Fall webinars for CTA members. They will also be recorded and placed on the CTA website for future viewings. If you cannot attend but wish to receive a recording of the webinar, you can still register.

Description: What is UDL? How does it connect to your classroom? What are some resources for your students and classroom instruction? This webinar will explain the basics of Universal Design for Learning and provide resources for teachers to use in their own classroom. All grade levels are welcome.

Positive Behavioral Interventions  

Description: Hear from other CTA members how they are using successful behavioral strategies inside and outside of the elementary classroom. This webinar will feature four teachers from Lake Elsinore who are making a difference inside and outside of the classroom with strategies that are working. More importantly, their colleagues are finding the work is making a difference in their own classrooms.
