Teachers Make Final Push for Prop. 24 to Stop School Cuts
David A. Sanchez, president of the 325,000-member California Teachers Association, will be available for election coverage interviews in Oakland Tuesday night.
Sanchez is joining teachers around the state in making a down-to-the-wire push for the CTA-sponsored Proposition 24, the Tax Fairness Act, to repeal $1.3 billion in corporate tax breaks that would mean hundreds of millions of dollars in more cuts to public schools.
Sanchez will be available for interviews about this watershed election and what it means for the future of our public schools and 6.3 million students. Among CTA’s key priorities are electing Jerry Brown governor, re-electing Barbara Boxer, electing Bay Area Assembly member Tom Torlakson as state superintendent of public instruction, and passing Prop. 24: www.yesprop24.org.
