Eligibility
1. Be a current “active*” member of CTA (including members working on an emergency credential).

2. Show potential for successful use of the scholarship funds.
3. Submit a complete application by the deadline – January 26, 2007. A complete application consists of pages 1-7 plus official transcripts.
4. College coursework should demonstrate high academic achievement. Explain any special circumstances related to medical, physical or psychological condition which may have affected your grades.

Eligibility
1. Applicant must be claimed as dependent status* on the current year’s IRS forms. Applicant must be the dependent child of an active,** or retired California Teachers Association member. Applicants are also eligible if they are claimed as dependents and are the child of a deceased CTA member. This scholarship is not available to spouses of CTA members.

1. Be a current “active” member of Student CTA (SCTA). This scholarship is not available to those working in schools as members of CTA. CTA members (including those with an emergency credential) should complete the CTA Scholarship for Members application form.
2. Be pursuing a career in public education. Applicants may be in an undergraduate, teacher credential or graduate program.
3. Submit a complete application by the deadline – January 26, 2007. A complete application consists of pages 1-7 plus official transcripts.

Awards Program Description
The César E. Chávez Memorial Education Awards Program will provide recognition for students and their teachers who demonstrate an understanding of the vision and guiding principles by which César E. Chávez lived his life. The Awards Program will honor the memory of this great man and ensure that the spirit of his work continues in the classrooms of California.
Eligibility
One student or a group project of no more than five (5) students (K-Community College), in conjunction with a CTA member. Grade level categories include:
- Kindergarten - Second grade
- Third - Fifth grades
- Sixth - Eighth grades
- Ninth - Twelfth grades
- Community College

Eligibility
To be eligible for the 2007 CTA Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, the applicant must:
1. Be one of the following:
- An "Active" member of CTA.
- A dependent child of an "Active," retired, or deceased member (per IRS ruling).
- An "Active" member of Student CTA (SCTA)
In order to receive the scholarship, the active SCTA member must:
- Reside in California
- Maintain membership at the time of dibursement
2. Be a member of one of the following defined ethnic minority groups: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Hispanic.
3. Be pursuing a college degree, credential, or certification for a teaching-related career in public education, in an accredited institution of higher education.
4. Application form must be typed, word processed and completed.
5. Submit one (1) typed or word processed Recommendation Form from one (1) of the following:
- A person familiar with the applicant's professional or student performance;
- A person familiar with the applicant's aspirations, educational goals, and academic record;
- A person who can address the four areas listed on the recommendation form.
