CTA Statement on Passage of COVID-19 Supplemental Paid Sick Leave

BURLINGAME – California Teachers Association President E. Toby Boyd released the following statement in response to the Feb. 9 passage of SB 114, which provides COVID-19 supplemental paid sick leave to workers.

“We appreciate you, Governor, and legislative leaders and those who supported this necessary leave for California workers.

Paid sick leave is critical for keeping our school communities healthy and thriving during this pandemic. This law is the culmination of months of hard work and advocacy by thousands of educators, our broader labor community, and others, and we are grateful that Governor Newsom has signed it into law.

This law allows our educators to stay home to recover until they are well and ready to get back to their classroom and students. We look forward to our continued work together to ensure a safe and healthy teaching and learning environment for all.”
