Register early for training for QEIA school teams
Volume 12, Issue 6 - March 2008
Considering that more than 200 people were turned away from CTA’s training for QEIA schools last summer, it’s a good idea to sign up your school’s team early this year.
Registration is now open for the Instruction and Professional Development Strand at CTA’s Summer Institute Aug. 3-8 at UCLA. It will focus on helping QEIA schools in “Moving From Compliance to Committed Action.”
Featured presenters include Robert Marzano and Andy Hargreaves.
Marzano, who is known for his work in translating research and theory into practical programs and tools for teachers, is the author of more than 20 books, including Making Standards Useful in the Classroom. Hargreaves, a noted education researcher at Boston College, is author of several books, including Teaching in the Knowledge Society: Education in the Age of Insecurity.
The weeklong intensive training is designed to help teams gain tools to implement QEIA requirements, develop skills, improve relationships, and increase student achievement. Topics include: School Culture and Climate for Learning; Instruction Engaging Students; Leadership Sustainability; and Connecting Parents to Schools.
Schools can use QEIA funds to send teams to the training. Teams should consist of classroom teachers, school site councils members, site administrators, district office representatives and parents.
