Workshop will focus on creating success

Volume 12, Issue 6 - March 2008

CTA’s Institute for Teaching is hosting a major workshop titled “Closing the Achievement Gap by Understanding the Culture of Success,” which will be held May 16-17 in Sacramento.

The workshop will focus on innovative, solution-oriented approaches to closing the achievement gap for minority students, and will bring together leading experts to examine key factors driving a culture of success.

Attendees will learn about what can be done to encourage practical solutions to improve schools; find out why the testing obsession is causing greater harm than good for students; engage school community stakeholders on issues that really matter to teachers; find out how student dropouts are costing public schools millions of dollars; examine why school policies need to move from deficits to assets; elevate the role that all school community stakeholders can play in improving schools; hold conversations that focus on the underlying, fundamental problems facing teachers; and learn how teachers as change leaders can transform public schools.

To register, visit the IFT webpage or contact Kelly Henderson, CTA Institute for Teaching, 4100 Truxel Rd., Sacramento, CA 95834, (916) 288-4931.
