...The California Department of Education is recruiting teachers as potential panelists for its Instructional Materials Advisory Panel (IMAP) and its Content Review Panel (CRP). The next panels will be dealing with the adoption of instructional materials and content for K-8 math instruction. The charge is to make sure materials are aligned with the curriculum framework and content standards. IMAP needs teachers with direct classroom experience in teaching mathematics. CRP needs scholars with a doctorate in the subject area. The Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission (the Curriculum Commission) will make recommendations for appointments by the State Board of Education.
...The planning committee for CTA's Good Teaching Conference is seeking potential workshop presenters for its 2007 conferences. The dates are Jan. 19-21 in Burlingame and March 9-11 in Irvine. Sessions are 1.25 hours or 2.5 hours and may be repeated multiple times. Although there is no monetary compensation, travel and necessary lodging expenses will be reimbursed, and meals will be provided. The deadline to apply is May 31.
