TEST ALIGNMENT - Hancock


Bill: AB 356


Would align California's Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program with federal guidelines by exempting pupils in second grade from the testing requirement; would delete passage of the California High School Exit Examination as a state requirement for high school graduation while allowing a district to require the exam; and would delete the rewards and sanctions provisions in the Public Schools Accountability Act.

Would give all part-time faculty and contract employees of community college districts due process rights in retention and renewal of their contracts.

Would require districts to offer Social Security to part-time faculty.

COURSE LOAD FOR PART-TIMERS - Burton


Bill: SB 955


Would provide that paid professional and faculty development ancillary activities will not be part of the part-time faculty 60 percent load nor count toward tenure or full-time employment.

STRS ENHANCEMENTS - Mullin


Bill: AB 265


Would extend highest-year compensation for computing STRS pensions to all vested members of STRS.
