CTA-sponsored and co-sponsored legislation for 2003

ACCOUNTABILITY ACT - Hancock
Would amend the Public School Accountability Act to remove the sanctions and rewards components.*

EXIT EXAM - Hancock
Would remove the High School Exit Exam (HSEE) as the sole condition for graduation from high school and allow school districts to use HSEE results as part of their graduation requirements.*

STAR TEST - Hancock
Would amend the STAR program to align it with federal guidelines regarding grades tested, and make test items and answers public after they are used.*

DUE PROCESS FOR PART-TIMERS
Would give all part-time faculty and contract employees of community college districts due process rights in retention and renewal of their contracts.

RETIREMENT FOR PART-TIMERS
Would extend part-time faculty's choice of retirement systems, including Social Security.

COURSE LOAD FOR PART-TIMERS
Would provide that paid professional and faculty development ancillary activities will not be part of the part-time faculty 60 percent load nor count toward tenure or full-time employment.

STRS ENHANCEMENTS - Mullin
Would extend highest-year compensation for computing STRS pensions to all vested members of STRS.
