Equity, Human Rights Conference addresses issues of diversity

Diversity Makes All the Difference is the theme of CTA's Equity and Human Rights Conference, scheduled for Feb. 28-March 2 at the San Francisco Airport Marriott.

 

Among the topics to be covered in small group sessions are: Attacks on Public Education; Celebrate the Dance of High Self-Esteem; Hands-on Multicultural Activities; Club Ed: Teachers for Tomorrow; No New Wars Needed; The Silent Majority Comes to the Classroom; Circle of Little Brothers and Sisters; Closing the Achievement Gap; Journey to a Hate-Free Millennium; Religion in the Classroom; Sexual Harassment; and Promoting Diversity and Reducing Racism.

 

The registration fee is $140 for members, support personnel and Fair Share payers ($420 for nonmembers). A special registration fee of $25 is available for Student CTA members. For members designated as their chapter's Women's Issues contacts and Human Rights contacts, the registration fee is $70. The fee is waived entirely for Service Center contacts for Women's Issues and Human Rights, as well as for minority at-large representatives.

 

One of the major features of the conference is the Human Rights Awards luncheon on Saturday.
