Grants encourage learning through community service

Oct. 11 is the deadline to apply for a grant to provide service-learning opportunities for K-12 students.

The grant program, which celebrates the legacy of the late United Farm Workers leader Cesar Chavez, culminates with the 2003 Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning on March 31.

The Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism (GO SERV) has released the 2003 Cesar Chavez Day of Service and Learning grant application forms.

GO SERV will award grants of $10,000 to $200,000 to applicants who provide service-learning opportunities to K-12 students in collaboration with public schools.

For more information, call GO SERV at (916) 322-4446 or visit the website.
