Feb. 20 is the deadline to submit nominations for CTA's Joyce Fadem Chapter-in-Politics Awards and the Theodore Bass Memorial Teacher-in-Politics Award.
The programs recognize contributions to the education profession through political action.
Fadem awards will be given in four categories: small, medium and large chapters, and "rookie" chapters new to political action.
The overall Bass award will be given to an individual. Up to five categorical awards may be given in the following areas: getting others involved; state priorities; local priorities; partisan/nonpartisan activities; and coalition building.
The award year covers Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2001. Awards will be presented at the June meeting of CTA's State Council of Education.
Guidelines and nomination forms have been distributed to chapter presidents.
