CTA's State Council of Education took the following actions at its March meeting:
- Elected Dayton Crummey (District B), Robert C. Nichols (District F), Angela Marese Boyle (District G), Paul Markowitz (District I), Mignon W. Jackson (District J-LA), Lloyd Porter (District M), Lynette Henley (At-Large) to the CTA Board of Directors.
- Elected Lois C. Hale (District 7), Diana Garchow (District 8) and Cam Werner (Alternate 3) to the NEA Board.
- Elected Val Muchowski (District A), J. Robert Vinson (District B), Sal Zendajas (District E), Suzanne Barkworth-Hinkley (District F), Christine Redding-Lowder (District J-LA), Suzanne Vaugine (District N) and Richard Dryer (District P) to seats on CTA's ABC Committee.
- Endorsed Iona Holloway, Dan Sakota and Lynette Tanaka for the NEA Executive Committee.
- Approved a redistricting plan that gives CTA a 15th seat on the NEA Board.
- Announced that elections will be held at the June 2000 State Council meeting for CTA/NEA Coordination Director, a new NEA director for District 15 and an at-large member for ABC.
- Advised delegates that a recommendation to increase the Initiative Fund from $19 to $36 per member would be presented at the June 2000 Council meeting.
- Adopted 1999-2000 CTA Bylaw Amendment "A."
