Delegates to the CCA Spring Council elected officers and board members for the next year.
Among the winners was Rachel Maldonado Aziminia, newly elected CCA vice president. A counselor at Chabot College in Hayward, Maldonado Aziminia has been active in CCA in the office of secretary, and as chair of the CCA Technology and Website Committee. She was also director for District B from 1992-1998. Maldonado faced a three-way race that included Chaumonde Porterfield-Pyatt and Cathy Crane-McCoy. Crane-McCoy was appointed as Secretary until the fall council election.
Elected by acclamation from the floor was Dian Dolores Hasson, who enters her second term as president. Board members who were elected by acclamation include: Phyllis C. Hall, PhD, board member for District H; Dee Wood, board member for District J; Wilhelmina Anthony, board member for District K; Jeanne Rincon-Germond, board member for District L; Lee Haggerty, board member from District N; Judith Mandel, Part-time Faculty At-Large Director; and Mabel Jones, Women's At-Large Director. Chaumonde Porterfield-Pyatt was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board in District D. Henry Sauceda was elected from the floor to fill a board vacancy in District I.
