Part-time faculty throughout the state might want to calendar Aug. 8-10 for the COCAL VIII International Conference in San Diego.
COCAL, or the Coalition of Contingent Academic Labor represents part-time faculty in community colleges, as well as lecturers in the state colleges and universities in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Past COCAL conferences have been held in San Jose, Montreal, Chicago and Vancouver.
This year’s conference takes place in San Diego on the campus of San Diego State University and will feature a variety of workshops and discussion panels on working conditions for non-tenure track faculty. CCA along with the National Education Association and the California Faculty Association are all major supporters for the event and all CCA and CSU members are encouraged to participate.
NEA President Reg Weaver will be the honored guest speaker at the Friday evening dinner.
