CTA Launches Radio Ads Today Urging Voters to Make California Public Schools a Priority

January 14, 2008

BURLINGAME – With three elections in California this year, the California Teachers Association begins a statewide radio campaign today reminding voters to make education a top priority when they cast their ballots in the February 5, 2008 Presidential Primary.

“From the White House, to the state legislature, to your local school board, the candidates you choose can help improve California public schools or set them behind,” CTA President David A. Sanchez tells voters in the ads. “As you consider your vote, find out where candidates stand on making public education a priority.”

Providing adequate resources for smaller class sizes, providing competitive pay to recruit and retain quality teachers, and changing the No Child Left Behind law which is failing students are all issues that are crucial to the future of California’s public schools, Sanchez says.

The 60-second ads begin today and will air for three weeks on over 70 radio stations statewide, including on Spanish and Asian language stations. The spots can also be found on CTA’s website at www.cta.org.
