LOS ANGELES - Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will discuss his campaign for a November ballot initiative to increase state funding for after-school programs in a speech Saturday morning to the 737-member California Teachers Association State Council of Education.
"The importance of after-school programs for our society is unquestioned," said Wayne Johnson, president of the 335,000-member CTA, which has endorsed the actor's initiative. "We feel this effort is the right step to take to improve funding for these vital programs."
Schwarzenegger's campaign for his After School Education and Safety Act initiative announced on Wednesday that it had collected 750,000 signatures, or nearly double the amount it needed to put the initiative on the November ballot.
His campaign's Web site address is www.joinarnold.com.
