Male Narrator: An important message from California parents and classroom teachers to Washington politicians:
Female Narrator: No Child Left Behind – George Bush’s failed education law is not working.
It's a one-size fits all approach to learning that forces teachers to teach to the test, and is hurting our kids.
Male Narrator: We all support accountability, but our children should be judged by more than just a standardized test score.
Female Narrator: And now there's a troubling proposal in congress that would pay teachers based on those test scores. That means more teaching to the test…and makes it even harder to get quality teachers into our lower performing schools.
Male Narrator: Rather than punishing our public schools, Washington needs to provide them with the tools they need to succeed:
Like smaller class sizes…
Quality teacher training…
And more parental involvement.
Female Narrator: So call your member of congress at 888-268-4334 and tell them to oppose the current NCLB reauthorization proposal.
Male Narrator: The California Teachers Association paid for this message because we believe a child is more than a test score.
