Local students push forward despite fears of being deported

Chico State student Giovanna Vera (left) applied for enrollment in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program so she could pay for college.

DACA provides individuals who came to the country illegally as children temporary relief from deportation. Students like Vera are now worried about the future of DACA under President Trump, who campaigned heavily on matters of immigration.
