You can represent CTA at NEA’s convention
Jan. 27, 2012, is the deadline to submit the official Declaration of Candidacy form for state delegates to the 2012 NEA convention in Washington, D.C.
Declaration of Candidacy forms for state delegates are available on the CTA website and in the California Educator. They are not being circulated through any other channels. Chapter presidents will not be distributing these forms to chapter members. It is the responsibility of each member wishing to run for state delegate to fill out the Declaration of Candidacy form that is printed in the December 2011 California Educator (or photocopy) or downloaded from the website, and file it by the deadline.
Each candidate filing a declaration form will receive an acknowledgment of receipt.
In order to attend the Representative Assembly, you must pay for your meals, hotel room and transportation for June 29-July 6. CTA will reimburse state delegates up to $2,050 with appropriate receipts. If a delegate stays within the CTA meal allowance, shares a room with another delegate and purchases a super-saver airline ticket (if applicable), the CTA reimbursement should cover delegate expenses.
The first caucus meeting is set for June 30, and the annual meeting of the Representative Assembly runs July 2-5.
In keeping with CTA’s commitment to minority involvement, members who are ethnic minorities are urged to become candidates.
