CTA Board member Toby Boyd and Hattie McFrazier of UTLA.
Participants at the first-ever CTA Joint Ethnic Caucus Issues Conference held April 29 to May 1 in Manhattan Beach included Hattie McFrazier of UTLA and CTA Board member Toby Boyd. United under the conference theme “Stand Up! Advance Our Power Together,” members of CTA’s African American Caucus, American Indian/Alaska Native Caucus, Hispanic Caucus and Pacific Asian American Caucus came together to learn more about what is happening in California’s ethnic communities and to reflect the strength of diversity in promoting quality of life for all California citizens. Conference attendees participated in a variety of workshops covering a wide range of topics related to diversity and issues focused on specific ethnic constituencies, but then came together to share ideas and strategies during a common dialogue session toward the close of the three-day event.
