Associations put members first
Following are some of the recent actions taken by CCA at the local level.

Kern Community College District Chapter was awarded an arbitration settlement on Weingarten Rights confirming that faculty can obtain representation for a meeting whether it’s at the meeting time appointed or prior to that time. This clarifies that faculty should have an opportunity to get a representative.

Lassen Community College Faculty Association District has sunshined a new compensation proposal that will be presented to the association negotiations team at their next bargaining session. The proposal would compensate faculty in only certain fields with bonuses based on enrollment.

Rancho Santiago CEFA, which represents part-time instructors, has received improvements in sick leave, evaluation, and grievance. Leave time is accumulated on all paid work for the district; not just class time.

College of the Canyons Faculty Association is representing a nursing instructor accused of battery by one of her disgruntled students. The case was resolved with the administration stating that is believes the student misrepresented the situation.

College of the Desert Faculty Association has convinced the district to allow both full and part-time faculty to use sick leave accumulated in summer or intersession.

Copper Mountain College Faculty Association will begin allowing for part-time office hours equal to the “Lab Rate.’ The district has never agreed to this before.

Mira Costa College Teachers Association is working with the district to implement unit instead of hourly pay.
- The Riverside Community College District Faculty Association has convinced the district to reactivate the health and welfare committee with equal representation of faculty, CSEA, and administration to seek out a new third party administrator regarding 403b plans.

San Joaquin Delta College is filing an unfair labor practice regarding the fact that Human Resources Department refuses to talk to campus representatives or CTA attorneys regarding an attempt to make counselors responsible for student discipline and crimes on campus.

San Joaquin Delta College FA sent a PAC team to the political organizing training in Region 2.

Napa Valley College received training regarding members benefits to the general membership.

Shasta College received Budget Workshop training.

Kern Community College experienced an organizing seminar.

Grossmont/Cuyamaca College faculty and trustees received training regarding how to understand the state budget.

Palo Verde Community College Association participated in a negotiations Seminar to prepare for upcoming negotiations.
