Hundreds of teachers, students and parents flooded the El Monte Union High School District board meeting Wednesday to protest the proposed layoffs of 62 teachers to help close a $5.5 million shortfall.
Calling board members irrational, unfair and misguided, nearly 60 students and their teachers passionately spoke against the proposed cuts and pleaded with officials to save the district from cultivating "watered-down" education.
