State Board Adopts Emergency LCFF Regulations

Governor, CTA and hundreds others urge passage

After Gov. Jerry Brown, CTA members and hundreds of supporters addressed the State Board of Education on Thursday, the Board adopted emergency regulations and templates that will help local districts fully implement the Local Control Funding Formula.

As finally adopted, the "emergency regulations" reflect CTA input and strike a balance between flexibility and accountability.

The new regulations are expected to be fine-tuned in the months ahead.  In the short term, they will allow districts to focus their energies on helping students who cost more to educate, including English learners, foster youth, and students living at or below the poverty level.  Additionally, all districts are receiving new allocations under LCFF.
