Panel Talks to Education Committee about Teaching in the 21st Century

CTA Vice President Eric Heins, along with Instruction and Professional Development Consultant Norma Sanchez and other education stakeholders, addressed the Senate Education Committee Wednesday during its informational hearing on "Teaching in the 21st Century: Recruitment, Preparation, Retention, and Professional Development." The purpose was to present to lawmakers a closer look at the challenges educators face today including implementing the Common Core State Standards, new technology, support and resources to enhance skills, and attracting and retaining quality educators.

Testimony and data collected at the informational hearing could ultimately generate legislation aimed at enhancing the profession and providing teachers with the needed support and resources to keep them in the profession.

Every child deserves a chance to learn and no child succeeds alone.
