Senate Approves Bill to Streamline Discipline Process
Assembly Must Concur for Measure to Get to Governor
The California Senate today approved CTA-supported AB 375, by Assembly Education Chair Joan Buchanan (D-Alamo), by a vote of 25-13.
The measure, which would streamline the teacher dismissal process to safeguard students and protect due process, now heads back to the Assembly for a “concurrence” vote, which allows the Assembly to approve the amendments made to the bill during its consideration in the Senate.
The Assembly’s approval will move the important measure to the governor’s desk for his signature.
