Updated School Quality Snapshot Overviews Performance of 10,000 Schools

As educators, we need to have resources to help inform the public about the great work our teachers, education support personnel, students, and schools are doing.

Now the California Department of Education has updated a recently introduced website with comprehensive information about local schools that can help us get the word out.

All Californians can use the Internet to learn more about the performance of 10,000 public schools as a result of the updated School Quality Snapshot, which compiles data about schools and at assembles the information into two-page user-friendly piece.

State Supt. of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson reports that 115,737 snapshots have been created since October, 2012, when the program was brought online.

The first page of the report features information about the Academic Performance Index and data on a school’s California Standards Tests (CSTs) results for students at the proficient-and-above level for English-language arts, mathematics, and science.

The page also contains a pie chart summarizing a school’s enrollment by race/ethnicity and diagrams showing subgroup enrollment and average class size.
